The club will mark the occasion with a special evening featuring Australian cricketing legend Merv Hughes and well-known radio personality Jon Vertigan, while also recognising two significant premiership anniversaries.

The celebrations will honour Beaufort's 1976 A-Grade premiership team, which claimed the club's first Maryborough District Cricket Association A-Grade flag against Dunolly, along with the 1986 B-Grade premiership side.

The 1986 success marked the beginning of a remarkable period for the club, with Beaufort White going on to win four consecutive premierships under the guidance of Ron Brown, defeating Beaufort Blue in the process.

The special evening will be held at the Beaufort Shire Hall from 7 pm on Saturday, November 21, with a two-course meal and plenty of cricket stories and entertainment on offer.

Hughes, a champion Australian cricketer renowned for his larger-than-life personality, will share stories from his playing days, discuss the modern game and answer questions from those in attendance.

With plenty of experience at the highest level, Hughes is sure to have some entertaining insights into Australian cricket, including the questions currently being asked about the national Test side, including Marnus Labuschagne is still in the team.

Vertigan, a well-known radio announcer and self-proclaimed 'fake race caller', will take on master of ceremonies duties for the evening.

Beaufort Cricket Club president Andrew Oddie said the club was looking forward to bringing the community together to celebrate a century of cricket.

"We want to get as many people in that room as possible on the night," Oddie said.

"We'd love to see another 100 people come along and help us celebrate a really special occasion for the club.

"Having someone like Merv Hughes here to talk about cricket, share stories and answer questions is fantastic. It should be a great night out."

Oddie said interest in the event had been strong, with bookings coming in quickly, and encouraged anyone considering attending to secure their tickets soon.

He also extended an invitation to everyone who has been part of Beaufort cricket over the past century, particularly former players, to come along and celebrate the club's milestone.

The club is also encouraging cricket lovers from across the district to attend and enjoy what promises to be a memorable evening.

Beaufort is hoping to welcome up to 200 people for the celebration, recognising the players, volunteers and supporters who have helped shape the club over the past 100 years.

Tickets are available through the Beaufort Cricket Club Facebook page or by contacting Andrew Oddie on 0437 633 349.
