Ararat Show promises a full day of family fun
GET ready for a full day of family fun as the much-loved Ararat Show returns today (Sunday). A fixture in the community for generations, the show, according to Ararat Show committee member Gwenda Allgood, is an event that is all about bringing people together. “The show is about bringing people back out to enjoy a day out,” she said. “This year we’ve tried to keep our prices down, we’ve got the little ones coming in for free. So that might help parents give them a ride down there.” With horse events returning, Mrs Allgood said the atmosphere will be as welcoming as ever. “We’ve got the horses back, and it’s just such a great show, always will be,” she said. “It’s just a relaxing day. You can stay for five minutes or five hours, it’s really up to you.” Visitors can look forward to a packed program featuring horse events, floristry and handicrafts, the fleece competition, and the popular Tug A Truck challenge. “There’s nothing like the pride on a child’s face when they see something they’ve made on display with their name on it, especially if they get a prize,” Mrs Allgood said. The day will also feature live entertainment from Outback Jack’s Stockman Shows, MXW Pro Wrestling, Professor Wallace’s Puppets, and Fair Dinkum Fauna, alongside rides, displays, food stalls and fun for all ages. Entry is Adults $10, Children (6–16) $5, and Children 5 and under are free. The show kicks off at 9.30am this morning at the Russell T White Raceway in Blake Street.
