A life well lived: Gloria Pyke marks 104 years

GLORIA Pyke could be the oldest resident living in Northern Grampians Shire. At 104 years of age, Mrs Pyke still loves life, loves a chat and loves people. Around 50 family and friends gathered last Sunday at Trackside Bistro to celebrate a special lady and a very special milestone.

Mrs Pyke was born in Oakleigh and moved to Stawell with her family as a young girl.

She married Stawell local Cliff Pyke when she was 19 years old and they had 51 happy years together before his passing.

Mrs Pyke had lived independently at home in Stawell until about six months before her 100th birthday.

Mayor Karen Hyslop called by on Sunday with flowers to celebrate Mrs Pyke’s  incredible milestone.

Mrs Pyke has three children, ten grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.

It has been a big week of celebrations for Mrs Pyke.

On Monday, a second celebration took place at Eventide Homes, where staff and other residents celebrated 104 years of good living.
