Peppi, Beaumont and Pip were recently adopted by Stawell-based parents.
Peppi's new owner Di Perry explained their first meeting was very sweet and she had an instant connection with the Jack Russell Terrier.
"It had been two years since my last dog passed away and I had been debating if I should get a new pet," she said.
"I was not initially looking for a little companion, but it got lonely with COVID and I started looking for a dog.
"I knew it would have to be an older, little dog as my previous pet was a large dog."
OTHER NEWS:
Ms Perry said her and Peppi's partnership was meant to be.
"Luckily, a friend tagged me on a post that she saw on the council's Facebook page featuring Peppi," she said.
"I spoke with one of the council's community safety officers and she arranged a meet and greet.
"From the moment I laid eyes on Peppi, I knew I wanted to take him home.
"He's a dear little friend."
MORE NEWS:
Ararat Rural City Council chief executive said Peppi's story is a great example of the success of the council's subsidised dog and cat adoption program.
"Just as people have individual needs and personalities, so do dogs that come through the pound. It's great to hear that all the surrendered dogs found a home where they're sure to get the love and care they deserve," he said.
MORE NEWS:
"The cost of adopting a dog from the Pound is $100, and a cat is $50.00 which includes microchipping, vaccinations and desexing.
"This subsidised cost is the council's way of giving impounded animals a second chance at finding a new loving home, just like Peppi.
"Council is always pleased to see an animal find a new home and our community safety officers take pride in their rate of success in rehoming cats and dogs from the Ararat Pound."
