Round two of the Stawell Tennis Club Junior Competition took place in less-than-ideal conditions on Saturday morning, however the grey skies couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of the players, as Stawell Goldmine announced themselves as a premiership contender, with victories in all three grades in their first hit out.

A Grade
Frewstal sit on top of the ladder, remaining unbeaten after a thrilling victory over Wombat Earthmovers, with the result not decided until the final set of the morning.
The final score line reading, four sets 40 games, to four sets 38 games. Freya Kellas was instrumental for Frewstal in the victory, and also took bragging rights in the Kellas household, taking the honours against brother Ewan.
Stawell Goldmine got it's season off to a flyer, accounting for Carey Cover's comfortably, with a seven set 46 games to one set 18 game victory.

It was a true team effort from Stawell Goldmine, with Archer Reading, Sophie Hutton, Archie Hoffman and Nate Lyons all contributing heavily in the win, while on the other side of the coin, Ash Hutton was the only player to taste success for Carey Covers, who will look to regroup following next week's bye.
B Grade
Frewstal remain in top spot, following a narrow five game victory over second placed Wombat Earthmovers.
Both teams won five sets for the morning, however Frewstal won the scoring battle, 49 games to 44 games. Pieter Jardine and Henry Dunn did a bulk of the damage for Frewstal, while Ryder Sullivan, Teepika Jones and Kasey Huggard tried valiantly to get Wombat Earthmovers over the line, to just fall marginally short.
The other match, saw a similar score line, with Stawell Goldmine defeating Carey Cover's six sets 43 games to four sets 38 games.
Stawell Goldmine's Tora Crawford was a one-woman wrecking crew, convincingly winning her three sets, while Jack Sullivan provided valuable support.
Jack Monument and Callum Reading tried to lead their Carey Cover's team to victory, however it wasn't enough, and they will now enjoy the week off, before gracing the courts again in two weeks' time.
C Grade
Two one sided affairs featured in C Grade results from the weekend, with both Stawell Goldmine and Wombat Earthmovers featuring in percentage boosting triumphs.

Stawell Goldmine dropped just one set on their way to a nine sets 37 games to one set 21 game win over Carey Covers.
Milla Freeland was inspirational as skipper, winning all three sets in a tough battle with Chloe Pearce, while Jerome Baker and Asha Crawford were both prolific in the win.
It was a tough morning for Carey Cover's, with Indi Redford and Oscar Ellis both battling hard against the tide.
Wombat Earthmovers cemented their spot on top of the ladder, with a comfortable eight sets 37 games, to two sets 19 games defeat of Frewstal.
Sam Margetson and Imogen Boisen set the tone early for the victors, while Dustin Price and Will Freeland did their best to stem the bleeding, in what was a tough morning for Frewstal.
Frewstal will look to bounce back next week, when they tackle Stawell Toyota next week, fresh off the bye.
