Stawell encountered a hotter than usual winter, averaging 13.2 degrees, this is slightly hotter than the winter average of 12.8 degrees.
"We did see winter rainfall close to average for most of the state, recently though conditions have been dryer so we did have a wetter than average June and that was offset by a dryer than average August," senior meteorologist Tom Delamott said in a Bureau of Meteorology update.

Spring has just began and the early signs are that warmer and wetter than average conditions for much of the state. According to the BOM it could also be warmer south of the divide with the odds of higher temperatures increased in those areas.
"We are likely to set a few early season temperature records, essentially we haven't seen temperatures this high, this early in the season after winter," Mr Delamott said.
Head of Operational Climate Services Dr Andrew Watkins backed this up in the BOM's spring outlook.
"The outlook is definitely warmer in parts of the south east," Mr Watkins said
"This spring is looking fairly wet (across Australia) which is a bit like what we had last year as well.
"Certainly a lot wetter than what we had in 2017 and 2019 when much of southern and eastern Australia was very dry."
