The penultimate round of the Stawell Junior Basketball Competition dished out arguably the game of the year, with a thrilling draw between Monaghan's Real Estate and Carey Cover's.

Meanwhile Mellor Monumental strengthened their grip on the premiership trophy with a comfortable win over Brian Thomas Electrical.
Monaghan's Real Estate and Carey Cover's put on an entertaining display for the small crowd in attendance, going back and forth for the entire 40 minutes, with the game still hanging in the balance with just seconds left on the clock.
Archie Hoffman and John Jok did a bulk of the scoring to put Monaghan's Real Estate in a strong position, holding a nine-point lead with three minutes remaining.

However Carey Covers' Will Moloney picked the intensity up on the defensive end to get some steals and convert them into layups to cut the margin down to three.
It was then time for Brady Graveson to take centre stage, knocking down a contested three pointer off the backboard with five seconds on the clock to tie the game.
The final score line 32-32.
On the back of some hot shooting from Owen Summers, Mellor Monumental continue to stave off all challengers, accounting for Brian Thomas Electrical.

Summers has been nothing short of dominant in the latter part of the season and was well supported by Charlie Dunn in the 15-point victory.
Brian Thomas Electricals Jack Clementson, Ryan Henke and Hunter Thomas all hit the scoreboard, however it wasn't enough as they ended up going down 41-26.
They now face Monaghan's Real Estate in the last game, needing a massive percentage boosting win to have a chance of making the finals.
Mellor Monumental have secured the minor premiership, and now enjoy the week off as they prepare for a finals tilt.
