Tania Dignan and reigning men’s greens champion Tim Coffey, both from Stawell, won their respective championships in a tight competition at Apsley.
Coffey has had a stranglehold on Wimmera championships in recent years, winning his seventh consecutive Wimmera title on Saturday.
Horsham golfer Jordy Briggs tested Coffey but the experienced seven-time champion was too good over 18 holes.
He won with a score of 75.
In the women’s section, Libby Lacey looked to continue her domination of Wimmera championships but Dignan had other ideas.
The Stawell golfer shot 88 to defeat the reigning champion by one and claim her first ever Wimmera championship.
It was a moment to cherish for both players, with Coffey playing an instrumental role in Dignan’s rise up the ranks in the Wimmera’s golf community.
