Member for Mallee Andrew Broad this week released a ‘Stay Safe Online’ poster, which contains about 20 pointers about cyber safety.
Mr Broad said the resource was designed for schools, as well as parents, grandparents and children.
“In this day and age, online safety is a real concern of many parents. Our children have such incredible access to great things online, but with that comes the threat of online bullying and harassment, as well as security issues,” he said.
“We’ve created a unique poster that can be put up in the classroom or at home full of tips for staying safe online.
“So far we have had a fantastic response, with other Members of Parliament wanting a copy of it for their patch too.
“Education is certainly going to play a key role in keeping our loved ones safe online.
“The more we can teach our kids and even kids teach their parents about the internet, the closer we are to combatting online bullying and harassment.”
The poster’s release coincided with the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence this week.
Mr Broad said people could call his Swan Hill or Mildura offices on 1300 131 620 for information about obtaining a copy of the poster.
He said other posters available included times tables charts, and ‘100 Ways Praise A Child’.
