Stawell Gold Mines has begun advertising jobs 14 months after the site entered into a care and maintenance phase, making about 150 workers redundant.

Northern Grampians Shire Council chief executive Michael Bailey said he had not seen the final numbers, but could confirm Stawell Gold Mines was starting to expand.
“They are employing people,” he said.
“We are aware they are still doing exploration – this is a really positive upward trend from what was there eight months ago to now.”
It comes after Arete Capital Partners acquired 100 per cent of controlling interest in the Stawell Gold Mines from Canadian-based owner, Kirkland Lake Gold, for an undisclosed amount in December last year.
