Brigades scramble to extinguish morning bush fire at Stawell

Country Fire Authority brigades scrambled to control a bush fire before it reached nearby properties off Uri Park Court at 8.50am.

District 16 CFA duty officer Bernie Fradd said fire crews are still at the scene.

“We were just about to put out an advice message to nearby residents, but fire crews have managed to control the blaze,” he said.

“They are still there now, but it is pretty low level fire activity at the moment.”

About 100 metres of land was burnt.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
