Stawell Angling Club members returned for the second run of the year and the first at Lake Fyans with a good return for most competitors last weekend.

Anglers reeled in 29 redfin and one rainbow trout in hot conditions.

Doug Collins returned to the winners list catching seven redfin for an aggregate length of 218 centimetres.

Graeme Nuske had a good weekend with four redfin and the trout for a total length of 156cm.

Steve Fenwick finished third after landing three fish totaling 102.5cm including a plump 44cm redfin, the longest of the weekend.

The junior section was fought out between new members Mason and Deon Jacobs, with Mason’s four fish at 102.5cm edging Deon’s 71cm across three redfin.  Lures, yabbies and plastics all proved to be successful bait to reel in the fish throughout the weekend.

The club’s next competition will be an open water event starting at 6am on Saturday, February 10 and finishing at noon on Sunday, February 11.
