The current and former assistant coaches were chosen for the role after a vote by the playing group at a training camp on Sunday.
26 senior and under 17 players hiked nearly 15 kilometres from Halls Gap in the biggest congregation of players for the club during the pre-season so far.
Stawell coach Colin Macaffer said he was impressed by the efforts of the group to complete the session in warm conditions.
“Everyone worked together which was great to see,” he said. “There was not one complaint or whinge – they just said ‘what else can we do coach’ – which is all I can ask of them.
“Everyone was pretty flat at the end but it is clear to see we have got our fitness right heading into the season.”
The players voted on their leaders for the season ahead following the session.
Jackson Dark will work as vice-captain under Joiner and Kimber, while 2017 best and fairest Sean Mantell will take on the role of deputy vice-captain. Tom Taurau, Sam Williams and Todd Matthews will round out the leadership group.
Macaffer said he is pleased with the group the players have chosen.
“I am more than happy to have them as leaders.”
