In previous years, the season started prior to Christmas and resumed in the new year, but the club decided to split both competitions into two separate seasons.

Competition organiser Ben Martin said the new format allows greater flexibility for new or returning players.

“A lot of people have talked positively about last season.

“The Friday competition will be quite short and sharp this year, so people don’t have to make too much of a commitment or change.

“We had a few new players sign up last season and really enjoy it so I would encourage anyone interested to come and have a go.”

Friday night tennis will run from February 2 to March 24, with the Wednesday night competition set to resume on February 7 and run until May.  A grading night will be held on Monday, January 29 for ungraded players.
