RESOLVED: After much conjecture, the Grampians Cricket Association finally agreed to a solution for Swifts-Great Western and Pomonal's round seven one-day game.
RESOLVED: After much conjecture, the Grampians Cricket Association finally agreed to a solution for Swifts-Great Western and Pomonal's round seven one-day game.

A decision has been made to decide the fate of the controversial round seven Grampians Cricket Association A Grade game between Swifts-Great Western and Pomonal.

The clubs will have until Sunday, February 11 to play the match.

The GCA executive committee arrived at the decision after the match failed to go ahead on the scheduled date.

It is the fairest thing for them as well as the whole competition

All three round seven A Grade games were brought forward to December 23, with the other six clubs agreeing on taking an extra week off in the new year. Swifts-Great Western and Pomonal could not come to an agreement, with the game still yet to be played.

GCA president David Turner said this solution will have the best possible outcome for everyone.

“Rather than sharing the points or giving both teams six points we decided the two clubs can figure out a Sunday to play the game,” he said.

“It is the fairest thing for them as well as the whole competition.

“The biggest factor for us is that we wanted the game to be played and not abandoned totally.”

The round seven one-day match will be played at Central Park, Stawell.
