The call was made early Saturday morning with the forecast showing no signs of dropping below the required 40 degree mark for play to commence.
Stawell recorded a high of 41.7 degrees at 4.30pm on Saturday. The temperature steadily remained above 40 degrees between 2.30 and 5.30pm.
Grampians Cricket Association officials decided not to call matches off earlier with the policy quite clear in its directions.
GCA president David Turner said it was a good outcome to have the matches called off.
“It was really hot on Saturday so it was an ideal outcome for everyone to have the weekend off,” he said.
“Our heat policy is clear in our by-laws so we are happy to have waited until the morning of matchday before calling off any games.”
All B Grade teams will receive three points each.
