AFL Wimmera-Mallee football development manager Jason Muldoon said there had been more interest in the program since the first session.
“We’ve had about another six girls contact us to say they’re keen, so I think we are up to about 40 girls or so who are interested in playing,” Muldoon said.
The second training session will again be at Horsham College Oval at 6.30pm on Monday night.
“We put it out to the girls to see if they would be keen for another training session and they all jumped at it. It will also give an opportunity to those who weren’t able to make it last week to hopefully get a go.”
Muldoon said the group would take a break over Christmas and he would have conversations with clubs concerning the future direction of any potential women’s teams.
“I would expect that around middle to late January we will get the girls together and plot out a course for where we want to go,” he said.
“It’s amazing how many girls just want to have a go at it and play Australian rules.”
