This week we talked to the five Wimmera cricketers representing the Western Waves at the under-18 girls state championships in Melbourne.
Anna Laursen Habel
Age: 18
Q: Who do you play for? Ballarat Grammar
Q: How long have you been playing? 6 years
Q: Why and how did you start playing? I started out playing backyard cricket and found I enjoyed the many aspects of the game including that of it being both an individual and team sport. I moved on to play for my local team in Warracknabeal, and since have found a love for the game and the friends you make along the way.
Q: What is the best thing about cricket? The best thing about cricket would be spirit of the game and the support and celebrations with your team mates, when, for example a wicket is taken.
Q: What is your favourite cricket memory? My favourite cricket memory is playing in Japan as part of the Cricket Without Borders in the ICC EAP Women’s Championships team where we versed Samoa.

Q: Who do you play for? West Wimmera and Kiata
Q: How long have you been playing? I've been playing since I was 3 but only in a team for 6 years.
Q: Why and how did you start playing? I started playing because my brothers always played on the front lawn and I wanted to play.
Q: What is the best thing about cricket? Playing with friends
Q: What is your favourite cricket memory? Making 43* to win our final game of Waves in 2015

Q: Why and how did you start playing? I started at a Milo cricket in Cairns
Q: What is the best thing about cricket? Meeting new people and gaining experience from different coaches.
Q: What is your favourite cricket memory? Taking a catch in slips in waves last year and the celebration of that catch with my best friend.
