Numbers are expected to be up on last year for the 2017 Christmas race day on Saturday.
Stawell Racing Club operations manager Mark Percival said he is expecting a great day of racing.
"We are expecting a good crowd. Online sales are up significantly from last year and we have had solid marquee bookings," he said.
"It is our only Saturday race day of the year which makes it so important."
Percival said the day has become very versatile, becoming suitable for families as well as workers celebrating Christmas parties.
"Over the last few years it has devloped into a family Christmas day," he said.
"It is a great chance to get together with family and workmates and enjoy a relaxed day of coutry racing."
Activities will be available for people of all ages, a photo booth and water slide the big attractions.
The 'family fashions on the field' will once again run, with more than $1000 worth in prizes up for grabs.
"Family's come in all shapes and sizes these days so any type of family unit can win," Percival said.
On the track, Melbourne Cup winning jockey Michelle Payne returns to Stawell for the second time in two months after featuring at the club's last meet in October.
Attendance was up significantly at Stawell’s most recent meet, but Percival said he is unsure whether Payne’s attendance was the reason.
“Attendance was up by about a third in October,” he said.
“We think it was a combination of Michelle’s attendance and a better promotion of the day which got more people to come.
“Hopefully we can see a similar spike in numbers on Saturday.”
Seven races are set for Saturday’s racing.
With a number of Christmas parties set to be held at the track on Saturday, Percival said it is a great chance to show the community what the club has to offer.
“It gives the club a chance to showcase to a wider section of the community,” he said. “We really appreciate all the businesses that have booked in to have their parties at the track.”
