The synthetic pitch is expected to be laid down on Wednesday evening and ready to use by Saturday for the B Grade game between Swifts-Great Western and Willaura.
Swifts-Great Western secretary Marc Brilliant said the new pitch will be great for the residents of Great Western.
“It has been a while since any cricket has been played at the ground and I know the locals can’t wait for it to get back underway,” he said.
“The league has also had a limited number of grounds to play on this year so it will be beneficial for them to have another field to rely on.”
Brilliant said recent grant money has made it easier to purchase the pitch.
“An air ambulance landed on the oval last year and tore it up so we were planning on buying a new pitch anyway,” he said.
“The recent funding boost has made things much easier financially for the club.”
