Grampians Cricket Association senior representative coordinator Peter Latham said the team that has been selected is one of the strongest in “a long time”.
“We have a lot of the better players in the competition together which will be exciting to see,” he said.
“We didn’t play these games last year so I approached the association to help out and get a competitive team together. Chris Jerram has helped me a lot to get the side up and running.”
Latham said picking Blandford as captain was an easy call to make.
“Jarrod is an established cricketer in the area and he brings a lot of experience to the role,” he said.
“He has captained the team before and he has a good rapport with all of the guys in the team. Everyone is happy that he will be leading the team.”
The Grampians side will play its first Kenmac Shield game at Central Park from 10.30 am on Sunday, December 10.
