A Marnoo sheep stud organisation was among three Wimmera organisations honoured at the Victorian Regional Achievement and Community Awards on Friday.

Glendemar Multi Purpose Merinos was the winner of the Prime Super Agricultural Innovation Award.
Business owner Ben Duxson said it was “a bonus” to be recognised for their position as innovators.
He said it was never their intention to be leaders in innovation, but Glendemar Multiple Purpose Merinos adopted new technology to improve profitability and production while saving labour.
“We have a clear direction going into the future and we look forward to introducing new technology to enhance our plans for ourselves and our clients,” Mr Duxson said.
“There are a lot of new technology coming out there and its all about making an assessment on what is best for our objectives.
“It’s been a lot of years adapting technology we thought could work and making it work for us.”
Mr Duxson said it was a great time to be in the sheep industry.
“There is a lot of money and new technology in it,” he said.
“Agriculture as a whole is becoming a lot more innovative and this can only do good for businesses.”
Rural Northwest Health was recognised in the prime super employer excellence in the aged care category, while Wycheproof’s Bakery on Broadway was the winner in the Regional Development Victoria business achievement category.
Rural Northwest Health acting chief executive Jo Martin said the award was recognition for the team’s hard work at the Warracknabeal and Hopetoun campuses.
“We have invested time into this space for a number of years and I believe that is why were have been recognised,” she said.
“There was stiff competition including our neighbours, Wimmera Health Care Group, and everyone nominated were worthy finalists.”
Horsham Islamic Welfare Association and Horsham’s Axis Enterprises were also nominees.
