The state government has allocated $1 million between 200 kinders across the state as part of the 2017-18 Children’s Facilities Capital Program Minor Grants program.
Stawell’s Cooinda Kindergarten will receive $10,000 for upgrades and $1500 for information technology work.
Dimboola Kindergarten will receive $1190 for IT improvements, while Willaura Kindergarten and Stawell’s Marrang Kindergarten will each receive $1500 for IT work.
Member for Western Victoria Jaala Pulford, who announced the grants this week, said the money would help Wimmera children get the most from their kinders.
“We know that better quality early childhood services mean a better start in life for our kids, and these grants are helping ensure kids in the Wimmera are ready for kinder, ready for school and ready for life,” she said.
Birchip Children’s Centre was successful in the capital program’s major grants round, announced in December.
The government allocated $315,000 to help build a new space for three and four-year-old kinder at the Birchip P-12 School grounds in Campbell Street.
The new space will allow for mixed uses to occur simultaneously, with a partition in the middle of the centre.
The project is in the design phase.
