Horsham School of Dance annual concert a celebration | Mega gallery

CELEBRATIONS ranging from Christmas to St Patrick’s Day will be depicted on stage for Horsham School of Dance’s annual concert.

Students had a dress rehearsal in Horsham Town Hall at the weekend ahead of their celebration-themed performances on Sunday this week.

Principal Karen Booker said the students could not wait to get on stage and showcase their talents.

“They are super excited. We’re doing well and everything is coming together,” she said.

“Along with the dances, there have been lots of late nights and hours spent out of class designing and making costumes and searching for the right things, and also finding and editing all the music as well.

“The kids have put a lot of work in, and their parents have too to make sure the concert is the best it can be.”

Mrs Booker said the students would present two performances, at 11am and 2.45pm.

Dance styles range from hip hop to Irish dancing, contemporary and ballet.

“We have dances celebrating people’s favourite times of the year including New Year’s Eve, Christmas, birthdays, Halloween, St Patrick’s Day, and Diwali, which is a Hindu festival of lights,” Mrs Booker said.

“This is the second year we’ve used the new town hall theatre and the stage is just perfect for the kids to dance on.

“Having that venue really helps ensure the show runs smoothly.

“This year we’ve also had Maddi Ostapiw teaching a musical theatre class. It’s been great to have her on board.”

Concert tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children and concession.
