Our various endeavours put us in touch with a range of people in addition to those we meet through our work.
It also helps us to keep a finger on the pulse of what is happening in our region and discuss what is important and of interest to residents.
Senior journalist Erin Witmitz is involved in Horsham Calisthenics College and also volunteers in Kaniva, where she lives with husband Brad.
“I've been involved in the club for the past six years. I am a qualified coach and this year I coach the senior team,” she said. “I am also involved in the Kaniva community, volunteering in the past at the football club and at the annual Kaniva Show.”
Sports journalist Elijah Macchia is the Horsham and District Soccer Association’s vice-president and technical director.
“As technical director I oversee all development from mini roos – for children aged from five to 12, the internals program, and the representative squads,” he said. “I am also the senior coach for the Horsham Falcons representative squad.”
Advertising manager Clint King is a proud Horsham Saints Cricket Club member and has dedicated 18 years to the club. He has been a committee member for the past five years among other roles.
Sales representative Lachie Grantham spends his spare time with a club of a different kind – the Little Desert Rodders, Rockers and Collectors Club. He particularly likes how the club supports various groups with the money it raises.
Senior journalist Carly Werner plays netball for Dimboola Football Netball Club and has also served as a club netball director for five seasons. She enjoys the chance to help develop netball in her home town and the wider region – a passion that saw her also serve as Wimmera Netball Association president in 2013.
She also plays tennis in the Central Wimmera Tennis Association competition and was a sub-committee member for the inaugural Wimmera German Fest in 2015.
Sales representative Thalia McFarlane can be spotted on the netball court playing for Natimuk United during the cooler months. She is an active member of the Horsham Squash Club, where she also serves on the committee.
Fellow sales rep Josh Sykes is a keen fisherman. During the warmer months you can usually find him on the banks of the Wimmera River or at one of the Wimmera and Mallee’s other great fishing spots, dropping a line and having a chat to fellow anglers.
You might not know who we are or what we look like, but we live and breath this community as much as our audience does – and we love it just as much, too.
