The Gappers finished last in the 2016-17 season, but are hopeful of a better year ahead.
Experienced cricketer Lesley Pyke takes over as captain of the A Grade team, leading the young Gappers this season.
Three under 16 players will be given the opportunity in A Grade, something committee member Neill McIntosh said is promising for the club.
“We hope we can do better than last season,” he said.
“It is exciting to see some young guys get a chance in A Grade.
“Hopefully Les can lead the younger guys and help them out.
“At this stage we still have a few of our players away so it is a good opportunity for the young guys to stand up.”
Halls Gap will play Pomonal at Pomonal Recreation Reserve in a one-day game to start the season.
