The group’s co-ordinator, Phillip Norman, said last month’s presentation was a chance to show appreciation to the group’s former leaders.
Mr Norman said members acknowledged were Lyn Smith, Dianne Simpson, Rose Petrie and Arthur Smith.
“We wanted to recognise and show our appreciation for their dedication and hard work to the group over the past 16 years,” he said.
Mr Norman said the group also presented Geoff Baker, Betty Heinrich and Rosemary McClure with certificates earlier this year.
He said Kath Carlson would receive an award in November.
Mr Norman said the group took the opportunity to learn more about the U3A’s history during the presentation.
“It was a great chance for our group to understand more about both the world history and Horsham’s history of the U3A,” Mr Norman said.
Horsham U3A president Bob McIlvena was a guest speaker at the presentation.
He spoke on the U3A’s history in Horsham.
Mr Norman said the group had grown in “massive leaps and bounds” in the past 16 years.
“We are the biggest community organisation in Horsham with approximately 330 members,” he said.
“Since 2001 when Horsham’s U3A was established, we have had various leaders who have contributed to the group’s success and it was great to recognise their efforts.”
Also speaking at the presentation was U3A Garden Group member Robert Wilson, who informed the group about the world history of U3A.
