Both nights were well attended with members gathering to celebrate a great season.
Swifts president Steve Hoffman said it was a great way to end the season.
“They were both very good nights,” he said.
“It was fantastic to see so many people.”
In a historic move, A Grade netball and senior football best and fairest awards were renamed after club stalwarts Deb Carey and Trevor Skurrie for the first time.
Hoffman said it was important to recognise the contributions of both Carey and Skurrie.
“Deb has been so committed to the club and in particular the development of the netball program,” he said.
“Trevor has provided years of service and spent a significant amount of time on the committee and as president.
“It is great to recognise what they have both done for our club.”
The club also introduced the David Staines memorial award which was presented by Teresa Staines to Luke Stevens for his consistency and effort in training and working hard throughout the season.
The award was donated by the family of David Staines in memory of the former Swifts member.
“The David Staines memorial award reflects what David was all about,” Hoffman said.
“It rewards someone who mightn’t poll the most votes but their commitment to the club and dedication to their team cannot be questioned.
“Luke embodied this throughout the season. He would always show up to training and he reflects our club as a whole how we have improved this season.”
Alicia Martin won the junior club person of the year, while the whole Swifts committee won the senior club person of the year.
“All the committee members put in so much time and hard work this season,” Hoffman said.
“They all did a fantastic job to get us to where we are now.”
Swifts had five teams play finals in 2017 and returned to the A Grade competition following a year off in the top flight of netball.
The reserves football team was the tightest vote count on Saturday night, with Jason Chevalier and Damien Smith tying for first and Mark St Clair and Jakeb Brown tying in runners up.
Chevalier and Smith polled 20 votes while St Clair and Brown were not far behind on 17.
“The evenness of the reserves best and fairest votes shows just how well the whole team did this year,” Hoffman said.
“Most of the other results from the other teams were pretty expected.”
The reserves team bowed out in the elimination final.
