Western Country regional cricket manager Stephen Field said the sessions had been terrific.
“We’ve had a bunch of under-14s and under-16s boys as well as all the girls from across the northern part of the region,” he said.
“We’ve focused very heavily on fielding because its been a major deficiency across the region but of course there has been some batting and bowling.”
There was an emphasis placed on playing against spin across the three sessions with juniors encouraged to get onto the front foot. In the final session players were also tested against short balls.
“There is so much talent here,” Field said.
“From here the kids will progress to outdoor trials. For the boys they will be in early October when squads will be cut down to 20 or 25.
“The girls don’t really get going until November.”
