More than 100 competitors and support crew will flock to Wartook Valley for the three leg endurance event. Athletes will first take on a nine kilometre run starting at Zumsteins picnic ground, before advancing to a 10 kilometre kayak journey around Lake Wartook.
A grueling 35 kilometre mountain bike leg concludes the event.
Event coordinator Maria Plyashechko said it is great to be back for the third year of the challenge after having last year’s event cancelled.
“The 2017 Grampians Challenge will showcase some of the most spectacular views the Northern Grampians has on offer including Mackenzie Falls, Wartook Valley and the Mt Difficult Range,” she said.
“Last year floods forced us to postpone the event from September to November, but this year we are still trying to bring it into September to show the beautiful spring colours of the Grampians,” event director Serge Kurov said.
