Women's day basketball - September 11

Another scoring display from Brooke McKenzie was the highlight of Monday’s women’s day basketball action.

McKenzie led Foster’s men’s and ladies wear to victory over D.A.M Farming in the first game of the day.

She scored 10 first half points, eventually finishing with 18 for the game.

Foster’s jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the first half. D.A.M were able to fight back and tie the second half at 14 points each in the 228-28 loss.

D.A.M showed positive signs despite the loss, with five players hitting the score sheet.

The high scores continued in game two, with The Great Western Shoppe and Ricksteel Fabrications doing battle.

Ricksteel’s Theresa Henley and Great Western’s Deb Slorach both contributed strongly for their respective teams, shooting six points each in the first half.

Great Western had a more even contribution, leading 15-8 at the break.

Great Western had an excellent offensive second half, scoring 21-8 to come away with a 46-16 win.

Courtney Giroud led the way for Great Western, scoring 13 second half points for a total of 16 for the match.

Giroud also shot two free throws. The game play of all teams has improved since the start of the season, with higher scores resulting in high quality games.

Ricksteel Fabrications will meet D.A.M Farming in game one next Monday, while Sneek-A-Peek takes on Foster’s men’s and ladies wear.
