Horsham Aquatic Centre hosted its winter pool party to raise money for the YMCA Open Doors Foundation.
Centre manager Sam Winter said the event raised just shy of $650 with its $7 entry fee.
“It was fantastic to see the community supporting the cause and that we were able to raise the money,” she said.
The YMCA Open Doors Foundation aims to provide people from a disadvantaged or low socioeconomic background in Horsham access to the aquatic centre.
“From the money we raised, we will be able to give 15 to 16 people greater access to the aquatic centre and gymnasium facilities,” she said.
Ms Winter said the day was enjoyable for all children and parents.
She said it was fantastic to see parents and grandparents taking their children to the pool for a fun day out – despite the winter chill.
“It was a great event and we had just under 100 people attend. From that there were about 45 adults,” Ms Winter said.
The winter pool party had a variety of activities which included competitions, inflatables, a junior slide and the zorb ball.
“The children had a ball playing on the inflatables and they got to try out our new volleyball court,” she said.
Ms Winter said children of all ages were found splashing around the pool.
She said children as young as six months old had a great time swimming for the day.
“It was great to see all the kids having fun and staying active,” she said.
Ms Winter said the families had expressed their appreciation for the barbecue lunch that was provided.
