Founder and chief executive Jason Gunn said towns such as Horsham was where the business wanted to be.
“The inspiration had come from my frustration that there were no healthy food choices as I travelled through towns. Between Adelaide and Melbourne, people are limited for options,” he said.
Oliver’s offers healthy, organic food choices.
Mr Gunn said the menu had evolved over time to offer options for different diets and a variety of foods.
While Oliver’s had been designed for travellers, he said he was interested to see the response from residents.
“Our driving passion has been to provide healthier choices and educate and empower people,” he said. “We don’t expect people in and around Horsham to eat here every night, but we’re hoping they’ll visit every now and then.”
He said there was an epidemic of health problems from diabetes to obesity as a result of poor lifestyle choices.
“Wherever possible we use organically grown produce, so you feel full of life and energy,” he said.
Mr Gunn said the team consisted of 12 locals.
“They’re all enthusiastic about what Oliver’s is trying to achieve,” he said.
Customer Jaimie Clarkson said having a healthy takeaway options was fantastic for her children.
“When we heard Oliver’s was opening, we couldn’t wait to have healthy and convenient choices,” she said.
