The session will be presented by the Murray Basin Rail Project and McConnell Dowell Martinus Rail Joint Venture (MMJV) in collaboration with North Grampians Shire Council.
MMJV Project Manager Kevin McAlpine and MMJV Human Resources Manager Paul Edward will be presenting.
The session will showcase opportunities for jobseekers, as a result of the significant Murray Basin Rail Project, which has started works on reopening the Ararat to Maryborough standard gauge rail line this month.
The briefing will also aim to help local suppliers improve the way they can engage with the project, standing them in good stead for winning future business.
The V/Line project is set to drive economic growth, create jobs and provide a major boost to the transport industry and agricultural sector.
Most importantly, the Murray Basin Rail Project will reduce transport logistics costs for industries and primary producers and ensure Victoria’s rail network can meet the future freight demands.
It involves standardising and upgrading 1055 kilometres of rail freight lines to improve rail access between the Murray Basin and Victoria’s major ports.
The Australian and Victorian governments are jointly delivering this rail upgrade.
The briefing will be presented from 5.30pm to 7 pm, Wednesday, August 23 at the Perry Room, St Arnaud Town Hall. Representatives from the NG Shire and V/Line will be in attendance.
