Hindmarsh Shire Council’s Community Action Grants Program provides grants between $500 and $2000 for equipment, events and upgrades.
Council has introduced an online application option this year.
Hindmarsh mayor Debra Nelson said people could still download an application form from council’s website, or pick up a hard copy at council customer service centres.
She said the grants program, established in 2013, was open to any not-for-profit community or sporting group that needed financial help to complete new projects.
Four grant categories are available in the first round of the program:
- Event sponsorship – up to $500
- Minor facility upgrade – up to $2000
- Small equipment – up to $1000
- Community assistance – up to $1000
“It is important groups take note of the criteria and deadlines for each category within each round of funding and submit applications accordingly,” Cr Nelson said.
Council is also accepting applications for its business assistance grants.
The program started last year to help generate new employment opportunities, support existing businesses and attract new businesses to the shire.
Cr Nelson said people could call 5391 4444 or email business@hindmarsh.vic.gov.au for more information.
Applicants for both programs close on July 28 at 5pm.
Councillors will assess applications at their August 16 council meeting.
