Police cordoned off a section of Main Street at Stawell after emergency services rushed to switch off a leaking gas bottle on the back of a delivery truck.

The vehicle was parked on the side of the street, outside Roswin Milk bar at 12pm, when fire fighters investigated the scene.

Ararat Country Fire Authority District 16 operations manager Bernie Fradd said the gas leak was stopped after 10-15 minutes.

“Police and CFA brigade responded swiftly,” he said.
