Six members of Il Shim Taekwondo club Stawell competed in the United Schools of Martial Arts Taekwondo tournament in Oakleigh at the beginning of the month.

Around 100 competitors competed in the tournament which is aimed at children.
Stawell secretary Kym Sirre said the event was terrific.
“It is a really well run tournament,” she said.
“The kids learn a lot and make lots of friends.”
Stawell’s members won 13 medals on the day, including three first place awards.
Six Stawell members will compete in the taekwondo national championships in Sydney in August.
Sirre said tournaments like the one in Oakleigh prepare them well for the nationals.
“The judges help the kids out a lot so they learn.
“It is a really exciting opportunity for them,” she said.
