It was the first game on the road for the Saints girls but the side was not effected.

“It was a very pleasing team effort,” said Taylor.

“We had a few players in different positions and had a focus on defensive running. In the end we let Warrnambool empty its bench and they played with more players on the field than we had.”

Ella Friend put in strong performance up forward to kick six goals and five behinds. Coco Ledger also bagged herself five goals.

Macy Fuller and Ruby Wynne responded well to pre-game instructions to set the game up in the first half.

Captain Katie Morris and vice-captain Tara Jasper were also impressive leading from the front along with Ledger.

Taylor said the side prepared well with little instruction. “They got together beforehand to warm up and then after the game a group of them went to beach to do a recovery session,” he said. “Warrnambool’s coach came up told me he had been talking with other coaches about how we were setting the standard early.That reflects the efforts all the girls have put in training.”

Taylor is doing everything he can to make sure his side remains focused. “We are at the halfway point of the season and I expect all the other teams will be getting better the more they train and play,” he said.
