The girls will come up against the South Warrnambool side which played the Horsham Saints and Horsham Demons in the first two rounds. Warriors coach Andrew Bach said the team has continued to enjoy the experience as the club’s first female football team.
“The great thing is that they keep turning up to training and they are not worried about the scoreboard,” he said. “We keep drumming it into them that it is an eight-week season and a lot of the things we are teaching them take 12 months to learn. It is still all about the players enjoying their footy.”
Crystal Summers has impressed playing at centre-half-back in the first two rounds. Bach also said Tayla Portelli and Hannah Blight had put in pleasing performance in the ruck.
The Warriors will look to get back to what it did well in round one against the Demons after a heavy loss to Hamilton.
“The only thing that let us down last week was our accountability,” he said.
“If we can focus on doing that better this week and get to the ball first then we should be able to do well.”
Potential slippery conditions could also be a new challenge for the side this week. The side had its first taste of playing with a greasy football at training on Wednesday. “It was only a couple of light showers but everyone still enjoyed it,” Bach said.
