The event is encouraging ginger-haired people to walk in unison without judgement and prejudice.
Stawell Secondary College acting principal Kevin O’Neil said there was little prejudice at the school, but students recognised how it could be an issue.
“There is some banter, but it is good-natured chat between friends,” he said.
“Students do recognise how this is an issue in other schools and hence one of the reasons for the national pride day.”
Student Kaylee Ripper said ginger pride raised awareness about accepting all people for who they were.
“Ginger Pride started at Stawell Secondary College last year and is a way for students with red hair to belong to something that is just for them,” she said.
“In 2016, the school organised a special lunch for red-haired students and a similar event is planned for this year.”
