They will look toward round three with optimism. The two sides face off against each other at Great Western.
Ararat Eagles v Moyston-Willaura
A FIRST home game of the season did not provide the Ararat Eagles with nearly enough spark to rise to the challenge of taking on Moyston-Willaura Pumas.
It was an 85-point drubbing that could have been a lost worse as the final score read 16.29 (125) to 6.4 (40).
The Pumas were quickest out of the gate and opened up a 21-point lead in the first quarter.
The game continued on the same path for the next three quarter as the Eagles struggled to get and take opportunities in front of goal.
An 85-point final margin had the potential to extend beyond 100 had the Pumas kicked straighter.
In the third quarter the side kicked three goals and 10 behinds before straightening up slightly in the last. A discrepancy of 35 scoring shots to 10 shows just how one-sided the game became.
Woorndoo-Mortlake v Great Western
GREAT Western was outplayed from start to finish by a superior Woorndoo-Mortlake on Saturday as the side suffered a 57-point loss.
The score at the final was 18.26 (134) to 10.7 (67) in the home team’s favour.
Despite trying hard, the Lions could not match it with the Tigers side that was hungry to register its first win of the season.
Tigers’ forward Nick Bateman was hard to stop on his way to kicking eight goals. Sam Cocks kicked six of his side’s nine goals to be named the best player for the Lions.
