Ladies secretary Colleen Dix said it was perfect conditions for the competition.
“Earlier in the week the course was unplayable, but because of all of the rain it is looking really great at the moment and in great condition,” she said.
After teeing off at 8.30 in the morning it was the team of Erin Schultz, Joan Williams, Margaret Moore and Tracey Hobbs.
The foursome combined for a score of 61.75, just edging out Alison Radcliffe, Kerrin Smith, Trish Mills and Robyn Watts who shot 62.
The annual tournament is usually a popular one with teams drawn for the out of a hat for the competition.
“The committee draws the teams up so they are fairly evenly matched,” Dix said.
“We’ll have ladies from each grade in each team.
“It’s one of the few tournaments during the year where things are mixed up like that.”
In the past the autumn ambrose tournament acted as an opening day for the season but it is no longer the case since golf continues to be played throughout the year.
“It is still a special tournament for us though,” Dix said.
Four nearest to the pin prizes were handed out on the day.
Gill Phillips was closest on the second, Carolyn McRae finished closest on the fourth, on the 11th its was Joyce Mills and Lisa Jakobi was left with the least work to do on the 15th green.
