The session ran for an hour with coach Matthew Taylor saying it was a great start for the side.
“It was really good and we had a lot of players from different towns,” he said.
“They all had a lot of excitement and what really pleased me was how good their skills were.”
“We had several apologies which included some of the Rebels girls that will be playing for us this year.”
The side will be training on Friday night at Coughlin Park from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and for the rest of pre-season on Wednesday from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
The Saints season starts on May 7.
“The girls definitely have a lot of competitiveness and their ball skills are pretty good,” Taylor said.
“We are lucky in the fact we have a naturally fit side and they are all genuinely excited.”
Taylor said himself and the training coaches, Jacob O’Beirn and Sam Clyne, and team manager Jess Cannane have just as much excitement brewing in them as the players.
“We are just going to have a bit of fun for the first few weeks and then we will get them into having a bit more body and structure,” he said.
