Stawell Warriors’ Good Friday preparation is coming along nicely with final details being planned for the day.

The Warriors and Rats will open the Wimmera Football League season for the first time on Good Friday.

Warriors president Debbie Bach said the club is looking forward to the day.

“It is coming along really well,” she said.

“We are working with Swifts Football Club to finalise details on the day and we are excited and confident of a big turnout on the day.”

Bach said the Warriors and Rats had put their hands up to be involved in the match as a trial.

“It has been something the Wimmera Football League had been wanting to trial it for a while,” she said.

“The two clubs have put their hands up to say we will give it a go.

“We hope to double the crowd we would normally get to an Ararat home game.”

The round one match will be played at Stawell’s North Park before the remaining round one games the following weekend.
