Dalziel took over the reins at the club after Nic Pekin and Brad Hartigan stepped down from the role last year.
His long association with the club made him an natural option to step up.
He too is expecting some of his players to step up into bigger roles this season.
“I think players like Dawson Cross, Wil Deayton, Matt Loyd, Sam Bigham and Harry Wentworth will all go to another level this season,” he said.
“I’m looking at our entire list to have a big year though.”
“As a team our improvement will come from out fitness level as well as a more even spread among a list with plenty of depth.”
The side’s playing style is not expected to be changed much this season despite many strong recruits coming in from the outside.
This means the side will likely feature a few fresh faces in round one.
“I would expects some new faces early but will wait for out trial games to what players will take their opportunities,” Dalziel said.
The side will have to cover the loss of Pekin who has opted to play closer to home for Harrow-Balmoral in the Horsham District league.
“He is a very good player to have to cover,” Dalzeil said.
“But our depth and size has improved during the off-season.”
Dalzeil is expecting the league to be tight again and rates Stawell as a very good side that will continue to impress in 2017.
Overall he is excited to see his side develop.
“I’m excited to see our young leaders develop and see the quality of our depth to come through.”
