A man had to be carried out from the Grampians at Chautauqua Peak after he could no longer hike due to a nagging illness.

Stawell State Emergency Services responded to the incident around 11am.

Duty officer Jenny Rooke said the man was feeling unwell and SES members carried him from the park after he had hiked 700 metres towards the peak.

“It was an easy carryout for members and luckily no major injuries were reported,” she said.
