A car that sped through a red light in Ararat and travelled nearly 150 km across western Victoria at excessive speeds remains at large after it was last sighted in Bacchus Marsh.

Fairfax Media understands a black V8 Commodore with three males on board was travelling at more than 200 km/h an hour across western Victoria on Tuesday, instigating a large police operation.
Police started tracking the vehicle when it speed through a red light on Vincent Street in Ararat at around 8.30am.
The car did not stop and was seen speeding along the Western Highway shortly after. Police units attempted to intercept the vehicle but the driver evaded police.
Police initiated a pursuit on Western Highway near Pykes Creek at 11am but it was terminated shortly afterwards.
The car was last seen travelling on the Gisborne Road towards Bacchus Marsh.
Police are searching for the registered owner of the car and have spoken to several people.
