SportsPower’s Robyn and Shane Young said they were impressed with the huge crowds during the day.
“We noticed a lot of people, we opened at 7.30am which is really crazy for us and had a busy day serving customers,” they said.
“Our shoes were very popular, we sold many throughout the day, everyone was in good spirits and it seemed to be a very good day.”
Lyal Eales manager Kerri Mansfield said it was a great day for the store and the community, despite her customers being down on last year’s Crazy Day.
“It was a great day, it was just full of fun and we met some nice people who came in to the shop to make the most of our sales,” she said.
“It was much better than an average day of shopping, but we are normally very busy on Fridays because we a store of everything, so people come in last minute to get their bits and pieces for the weekend.
“Our customers were slightly down this year, but it is encouraging to see people still looking to buy local and support local businesses and jobs which is good.”
Gold Reef Clothing store manager Brenton Potter said he was happy with the trade on Friday.
“This year we went bigger than ever in terms of what we were offering to customers,” he said.
“We were happy with the trade, but for next year it will be nice to see Northern Grampians Shire Council, StawellBiz and all shops getting together and planning to help make the day even stronger.
“It will be good to make the day into more of a festival where there are more activities on Main Street, that will help attract more people and even attract people beyond Stawell in places like Horsham and Ararat.”
Former Stawell resident and Movember Foundation campaigner Kieran Ryan helped the store out during their trading hours on Friday.
“We were serving all day and needed extra workers as we were short-staffed so it was good to have Kieran there,” Mr Potter said.
