Smith celebrated not once but twice when Our Henrietta won at Stawell and then Our Dexter won in Bendigo.
He said he was pleased with the results and how the stables are going at present.
“It was Our Henrietta, Our Dexter so it must have been our turn,” Smith said.
“The stables are going well at the minute whether that be a bit of luck or just better quality horses I am not sure. We just take what we can get.”
Our Henrietta is turning out to be quite the bargain for the Smith stables as they got her for a cheap price nine starts ago.
The horse has always ran well and is never beaten by much.
“She has never been beaten by more than two and a half lengths,” Smith said.
“She is turning out to be a good money spinner for us considering she was so cheap.”
Jarrod Fry took the ride on Our Henrietta and was able to get clear on the final turn.
Fry rode well taking the horse three wide and Our Henrietta held strong.
Our Dexter had a more difficult ride on Saturday jumping from a wide barrier in Bendigo.
“It was always going to be a tough run from Our Dexter because he drew such a wide gate,” Smith said.
“He went forward and he stayed there. That was always the plan.”
Despite being challenged by Symon Wilde trained Flo Fo, Our Dexter was able to hand on.
John Allen was the jockey in the saddle.
It is Our Dexter’s first win since December 2015.
Smith said both horses were in the same boat when it came to their potential.
“Both horses are super, but they probably haven't got what it takes to run in town,” Smith said.
“They are both honest and tough but they will just stay around the country.”
Smith has nothing planned at this stage for either horse, but given how they have recovered from their races another run is only just around the corner.
“They both pulled up super,” Smith said.
“We haven't got any plans for the horses, but we will look for something in the next fortnight.”
Something To Share also ran at Bendigo and finished just out of the placings finishing fourth.
