Wimmera Uniting Care chief executive Wendy Sturgess said Pancake Day would be a fantastic opportunity to bring people together to enjoy each other’s company and some delicious pancakes for a good cause.
“This year the proceeds from Pancake Day will go towards funding special projects within the new headspace Horsham, supporting young people in our community,” Ms Sturgess said.
“Headspace is the nation’s leading support service for young people who are experiencing problems with mental health. Young people in the Wimmera will have access to the Horsham service from April this year.
“Pancake Day is always a fun day for everyone involved and it supports programs which directly benefit Wimmera people,” she said.
“For $7 you receive a plate of three pancakes with your choice of fresh toppings and the knowledge you have helped fund a vital service.
“We want to make sure we are catering for everyone, gluten free options are available and there will also be the opportunity for businesses, groups or people with limited time to place take away orders on our website.
“Caffe de Kerb will also be there to offer a selection of hot and cold beverages, as well as a free jumping castle to keep the kids entertained.”
Ms Sturgess said the takeaway order forms could be found by visiting www.wuc.org.au/pancake
“We would really like to thank our sponsors, Cheeky Fox Café who have again supplied all the pancake mix, as well as Peach’s Fruit Market, PFD and Western Vic Wholesalers who have generously helped out with fresh produce and supplies,” she said.
“We would also like to thank the Rotary Club of Horsham East members who have volunteered to help us at the event and Caffe de Kerb, who will be donating a percentage of her profits from the day.”
Ms Sturgess encouraged anyone interested in hosting a Pancake Day event to contact Wimmera Uniting Care to ensure all money was distributed in the Wimmera.
